Driver arrested for fatally running over 4-year-old boy in Mohali
Four days after a tragic incident, police have apprehended the driver responsible for a hit-and-run accident that resulted in the death of a four-year-old boy. The incident occurred in Peer Muchalla, Zirakpur, when a speeding Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire struck the child, named Prince, while he was playing outside his residence. The accident took place at approximately 11 am on a Thursday.
The driver of the car, identified as Renu Sirohi from Peer Muchalla, fled the scene following the incident. However, a nearby CCTV camera captured her involvement in the accident.
The child's father, Varinder Kumar, attempted to rush Prince to the hospital on his motorcycle. However, their journey was delayed due to a punctured tire. By the time they reached the civil hospital in Sector 6, Panchkula, it was too late, and the child was declared deceased.
In response to the hit-and-run incident, the police had registered a case against the accused on the very day of the tragic event. Renu Sirohi will be presented before a local court on Monday, as legal proceedings progress.
The incident underscores the importance of responsible and cautious driving, especially in residential areas where children are often at play. It serves as a reminder of the need for drivers to exercise care and adhere to traffic rules to prevent such heartbreaking accidents.
