Tragic accident: Haryana Roadways bus hits biker in Zirakpur

Fatal accident: Haryana Roadways bus fatally strikes 37-year-old biker in Zirakpur

In a tragic incident in Zirakpur, a 37-year-old motorcyclist, Mohammed Farkan, originally from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, and residing in Mullanpur, lost his life. Farkan, along with his brother riding pillion, was en route to Ambala to replenish their garment stock when the accident occurred.

Fatal encounter with a stray bull

As they approached the Best Price Mall in Zirakpur, their motorcycle had to abruptly halt to avoid colliding with a stray bull that had darted into their path. Farkan applied the brakes, but the Haryana Roadways bus trailing them couldn't stop in time, tragically striking them. Farkan lost his life instantly as the bus ran over him, while his brother suffered severe injuries.

The bus driver, identified as Udayveer Singh from Faridabad, Haryana, fled the scene, abandoning the bus. This triggered an outpouring of anger from bystanders who blocked the road, pelting the bus with stones and condemning Haryana Roadways.

Assurance of justice and investigations underway

Police swiftly intervened to pacify the agitated crowd, promising to apprehend the driver responsible. As a result, the roadblock was eventually cleared. The accused driver faces charges under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code, based on the complaint filed by Farkan's brother, Mohammad Shadab. The deceased's body has been transferred to the Dera Bassi civil hospital for autopsy. Mohammed Farkan is survived by his wife and two children, leaving behind a grieving family.
