Theft at factory in Industrial Area, Phase 2: Burglars steal cash and copper wires

A factory located in the Industrial Area, Phase 2, fell victim to theft as burglars broke in and made away with ₹6 lakh in cash and valuable copper wires. The incident occurred on Sunday night, raising concerns about the security of locked premises in the area.

Burglary details

The owner of the factory, Maman Chand, who resides in Sector 7, Panchkula, reported the incident to the police. He had secured his factory, RK Enterprises, and left around 9.30 pm on Sunday. However, just 45 minutes later, he received a distressing call from one of his workers, informing him that the small door's lock on the factory's main shutter had been tampered with. Chand rushed back to the factory and discovered that a theft had taken place.

Stolen items

The burglars had not only stolen valuable copper wires but also managed to pilfer ₹6 lakh in cash from the drawers of Chand's table. In an attempt to hinder the police investigation, they took away the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) of the CCTV cameras installed on the premises.

FIR lodged

Sector 31 police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under Sections 380 (theft in dwelling house) and 457 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). This marks another incident of theft at a locked factory in the region, highlighting the need for enhanced security measures.

Previous incident

It is worth noting that a similar theft occurred on Independence Day, where ₹24 lakh in cash, a mobile phone, and a chequebook were stolen from a closed factory in the Industrial Area. The police successfully solved this case two weeks later, apprehending three habitual offenders, two aged 19 and one aged 20.
