Joint Coordination Committee meeting for Japanese Technical Cooperation Project on ‘Capacity Development on Railway Safety’ held at Baroda House New Delhi

 Project aimed to contribute to reduce railway accidents and improve safe railway operation in compliance with India’s aim of improving railway safety
 
            As a part of Indo-Japan collaboration regarding Capacity Development of Railway Safety on Indian Railways, Joint Coordination Committee meeting was held with the team of Japan Transport Safety Board (JTSB) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) with Ministry of Railways on 25.05.2022 at Northern Railway Headquarters Office, Baroda House, New Delhi. The meeting was co-chaired by Shri. Ashutosh Gangal, General Manager/ Northern Railway and Mr. Saito Mitsunori, Chief Representative/JICA and was attended by officials of Indian Railways along with members of JTSB and experts of JICA, India.

This project aimed to contribute to reduce railway accidents and improve safe railway operation in compliance with India’s aim of improving railway safety.  Also to deliver advice regarding the formulation of a safety management system based on the current conditions in the Indian Railways and the experience and technology of Japan. Northern Railway was chosen as the Pilot Zonal Railway for this project. The team members of JTSB and JICA shared their experience of visiting actual work sites of track maintenance, coaching stock maintenance and training centres of Indian Railways. The meeting concluded with submission of the Project Report.
