Prime Minister Narendra Modi designated January 16 as ‘National Start-up Day

The 16th of Jan will be designated as “National Start-up Day.”

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with over 150 entrepreneurs as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, a week-long event titled “Celebrating Innovation Ecosystem.”

“Startups will form the backbone of the new India,” the Prime Minister added. When India celebrates its 100th anniversary of independence, start-ups will play a significant part. The country’s innovators make the country proud around the world.

“This decade is being called the ‘techie’ of India,” he continued, “to improve the innovation, entrepreneurship, and start-up ecosystem, which has essential components like releasing entrepreneurship, innovation from govt processes, and bureaucratic silos.”

PM Modi went on to say, “Startups in India currently operate in 55 distinct industries. India did not even have 500 startups five years ago! That number has now surpassed 60,000.”

The Prime Minister stated that believing in the capacity and inventiveness of the young is the foundation of any nation’s progress.

“Today, India believes in its youth and is implementing policies to reflect that belief,” PM Modi remarked.

The event is part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, which is “Celebrating Innovation Ecosystem,” and the Prime Minister will be video chatting with more than 150 businesses on Saturday.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the event will be held from January 10 to 16 at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPI). The event commemorates the 6th anniversary of the Startup India initiative’s inception.

The purpose of the discussion is to learn how startups may help meet national demands through promoting innovation in the country.

It went on to say that the Prime Minister is a firm believer in Startups’ ability to contribute significantly to the nation’s growth.

In 2016, the flagship programmed Startup India was launched to represent this. The government has strived to create an environment that encourages the creation and development of startups It was also added.

According to the PMO, this has had a huge impact on the country’s startup ecosystem, resulting in a stunning increase in unicorns.
