“This is a new beginning for me and I look forward to my contribution to nation building under the visionary leadership & guidance of the Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, BJP President Shri JP Nadda & Honorable Home Minister Amit Shah,” he tweeted.

RPN Singh praised Congress president Sonia Gandhi for giving him the opportunity to serve the country and its people in his resignation letter from the party’s primary membership. Singh, who served in the 15th Lok Sabha as a member of Parliament from the Kushinagar seat, posted his resignation letter on social media.

RPN Singh stated, “For 32 years, I stayed in a party (Congress) and worked diligently. Now it’s not the same party. Even the thinking isn’t the same. If the country is to be taken forward, I would do whatever is needed as a party worker. For many years, people asked me to join BJP Today I’ll say better late than never.”

Singh was a former MP from Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh and the in-charge of Jharkhand affairs for the Congress, which is in power in the state alongside Hemant Soren’s JMM. Singh has also served as a Union Minister of State for Home Affairs. He is a scion of the royal family and hails from Padrauna.

The Congress Central Committee will meet virtually today at 5 p.m. to choose candidates for the 100 seats up for election in Uttar Pradesh. In addition, the BJP is expected to announce its candidates for the final three stages of the UP elections. Meanwhile, RPN Singh, the Congress’s top campaigner, quit and joined the BJP, handing the party a huge loss.
